Legacies of the Future Leaders - Ilhaam Gordon

The Future Leaders are a group of selected students that are academically stable and have the potential to achieve great leadership roles in the future. These learners have to commit to the program and maintain their grades.

The program was started in 2015, when that year’s group launched the library project and the Maths Is Gr8 initiative. The Future Leaders of 2016 began the Luncheon Room (Soup Kitchen) to provide the students with food during school hours. Last year’s 2017’s group launched the Recycling Initiative that created awareness around the recycling of paper. The project was passed down to this year’s Future Leaders, and with the help of the previous group, it has been strengthened.

This year, the Future Leaders of Grade 10 have worked hard to create a voice for Groenvlei High. They’ve taken the initiative to start a school newsletter that will no doubt give the school the great reputation that it deserves, but will also involve the students in a way that enhances the feeling of unity amongst them.

The commitment and the need to go the extra mile was shown by the effort the Future Leaders have put into their projects and in creating a legacy that they can leave behind to remind other students that a little hard work and determination goes a long way.
